You always have to think long and hard before trading someone like Verlander. And even more so when including a closer that had a season like Fernando Rodney, as well as a promising young SP like Drew Smyly. But the return makes too much short and long term sense for my club not to pull the trigger. I like Hellickson a lot and even though advanced statistics can't explain how he has had such fantastic success, I'm thinking that he's for real and will be an excellent big league pitcher for a long time (at a nice, cost-controlled price). I've been looking for another CF and Dexter Fowler fits the bill perfectly. Not only do I expect him to provide a great deal of production this season and next (at another very reasonable salary) but he also keeps me from having to bid to give Rick Ankiel way too much money over way too many years. Wandy Rodriguez is a short term solution at SP but he's reliable and I expect him to help this season. Huston Street could well provide strong production out of the bullpen for the duration of his contract - and if he doesn't, it's not a contract that will cripple my club.

And then we get to the prospects. Max Fried is coming in between #45 and #75 on most Top 100 spec lists. Jake Marisneck is coming in as low as #20 and as high as #78 on the lists I've seen. Josh Bell is not on many Top 100's but he's stacked with talent and could certainly find himself batting in the middle of a big league order in the next few years. Jayson Aquino projects as a likely middle of the rotation arm. Kyle Parker is well on the road to becoming an above average big league corner OF (hits AA this year). And Jose Munoz may not stick at SS but appears to have the offensive potential to possibly play 3B long term (he was a second round pick in the last MLB draft).

I think this is going to be a great trade for both clubs - thank to the Rockies for working with me on this for the last few days.

I definitely think this trade is fair, but the Constitution says you cannot trade a recently signed free agent until June 15th, Huston Street was this year I think.

I accept the trade, of course if I can't trade Street due to recently signing him we'll have to re-work it.

I get the best pitcher in baseball, a very solid you g SP in Smyly and cut salary in the Rodney-Street swap. I have up some very good prospects in the deal but I believe Verlander would put me in very good shape to compete for a championship.

Yes, unfortunately you will have to rework the Street part of the deal.  Page 8 of the constitution says Free Agents can not be traded till June 15th.

We've tweaked this deal. I'll post in a separate topic to prevent confusion.
