Teheran is a stud, but I think I get a ton of talent in this deal.

Syndergaard and Guerrieri alone could be a pair of #2's in my rotation (Guerrieri has more upside than that, too).  Guzman and Castillo have a ton of upside.  The 2nd rounder will be nice too.

Rethinking my tactics in Armchair, I think I'm ready to compete in the AL east now. This along with the Castro/Cashner/LIddi additions go a long way to improving my chances, while acquiring players I have long term control of.

I personally think this trade is way too one-sided.

Toronto is giving up Syndergaard - chosen is 1.5 round, #6 rated Fangraph, #7 in BA in bountiful Jays system.
+ Guerrieri, drafted in 1st round, is #3 rated Fangraphs, #4 in BA in bountiful Jays system.
+ Guzman is a highly desired young player, our Toronto owner paid $25,000,000 for him.
+ Castillo is another desired young player
+ a second round pick in upcoming draft.

All for a #1 ranked pitcher in Braves system, not a ++ strikeout pitcher, and was hit pretty good in his one big league audition.  A great talent to be sure, but IMO, the Jays are giving up way too much for him.

My recommendation:  :veto:

I hardly think that this deal is vetoable.  I'm getting 4 guys who are all pretty unproven for the most part.  I'm giving up a guy who has proven it for years at high levels and profiles to be a future ace.

Syndergaard is pitching in A-ball right now.
Castillo was in rookie-ball last year and will probably be there again this year.
Guerrieri hasn't even played pro-ball yet.
Guzman hasn't played pro-ball yet either.

I get these guys and a second-rounder for Julio Teheran who is widely considered one of the best pitching prospects in baseball.  He dominated Triple-A as a 20 year old and got a taste of the Majors that same year.

To use one start at the Major League level at the age of 20 to evaluate a player's future is a poor strategy.  Teheran has proven himself already.  None of the other guys in this deal have (excluding Snydergaard).

Not to mention :TOR: is looking to compete relatively soon.  This trade helps them achieve their goal.

Well, this deal has been on the floor for 5 days now and our highly active Trade Committee has made one vote:
