TRADE: KC & CIN
« on: March 23, 2024, 02:57:19 PM »
KC came looking to get rid of a bad contract with Jordan Diaz. This deal takes $25 Million off of his books for the next 4 seasons which I'm able to work into my cap space. In addition to the cap savings benefit, I send over a couple young guns with potential as well as a bevy of end-of-draft picks in order to get International Funds and early picks for next year. One rebuilding team helping another.

Great back and forth. Best of luck to the Royals.

KC Sends:
3B Jordan Diaz - 7,000,000 (7M owed through '27)
3,000,000 to 2024's Contract
Next Year Round 2 Pick
Next Year Round 3 Pick
Next Year Round 4 Pick
$4M in Next Year's Intl Funds
--------------------------------------------
CIN Sends:
OF Oscar Gonzalez
UT Kaden Polcovich Prospect
2024 10th round pick
2024 11th round pick
2024 12th round pick
2024 13th round pick
2024 14th round pick
2024 15th round pick

KC confirms, this trade eliminates our last bad contract on the books and gives us high levels of financial flexibility moving forward. I am a believer in Oscar Gonzales, albeit probably one of the few, and I'd rather put my chips on him taking a leap than Diaz who fumbled a wide open competition in Oakland. We also add another infield prospect in Polkovich.

Veto.
This is the kind of deal that can cripple a rebuild.
KC is surrendering too many assets to clear 7m in cap and you can only dream on so much production from Oscar Gonzalez.
KC giving up mid round picks instead of early round picks and with significantly less int. Funds being exchanged would make some sense.

I would definitely argue that it's the total $25 Million that I'm taking over and not just "7" in space. Thus frees him up and locks me down for 4 years with this bas contract.

I got punished for not getting enough in return for taking on a bad contract a month ago and that trade was vetoed and now I'm getting punished for getting too much?

KC gets 6 picks to my 3 and yes mine are higher, but he clearly values quantity and I value top guys based on our draft history the past month.

I really don't see the issue here at all.

Gonzalez is one season removed from hitting a walk off home-run in the play-offs and he had a strong spring training so far. I would take him over anyone I might have to wait for in the draft next year in rounds 3-4. I also have a second round pick from Seattle so I'm still set in that round. I also don't want anything to do with INT FA after watching how crazy it went down this year so I'll most likely be a candidate to trade my funds every year. I have long said I want to rebuild this team according to my own design and this trade gives me that opportunity with a blank slate for future acquisitions.

no need for my vote. 1 Veto kills the trade.

It takes more than one veto to kill a trade even when a committee member is involved

There are 5 on the TC, when one player is involved then there needs to be 3 approvals to pass it. So 2 vetoes kill the trade.

Ok that is fine. Why is KC and CIN keep commenting whenever they don't like what someone votes? We don't need to hear anything from you after the trade is accepted.
