Future Cap- PLEASE VOTE

Should we continue to allow teams to go over the cap in future years? Current rule is we allow teams to go over cap in future years and then as soon as the off-season starts where you are over cap, every move made must clear more cap than it brings in.

1. Yes, keep it allowed. And to clear up any future confusion, the rule is that once the off-season where you are over the cap starts, you must make sure you are back under the cap by the start of the regular season.

2. No, do not allowed anyone to ever be over future cap. Any trades/signings that would put you over cap will be invalid.


If it's voted to remove the ability to go over future cap, this would go into affect at the start of next off-season to not impact anyone already over future caps

I vote for option 2, IMO this will make expiring deals more appealing to teams going all in, which is much more like the real NBA.

OUDAN has a really good point.

It also makes it rather confusing and creates a lot of additional unwritten rules. IE:
1) In what ways can a team go over the cap in future years?
2) What moves are allowed or not allowed (draft picks can be made, trades must bring in less cap than sent out, can players be extended if the upcoming season is their final contract year)?
3) What is the deadline for getting back to the cap?
4) What are the penalties for not being under the cap by the start of the season?

It will also really help with league parity in preventing stars from being traded fully paid in the current year as the team would also have to have the cap to cover them in future years.
