Phi makes this trade because we are a Tigers fan and we like the two arms we are getting. Flores is at a buy low point and Hurter is still somehow flying under most radars. He will throw quality MLB innings before we are done. (Less confident on Wilmer, but hey!) Additionally, I am planning to dive hard into the international pool next year and will like the extra funds. Cartaya is one of my top prospects and I am rebuilding yes, but I have Contreras and some other C prospects who might hit so I don't need him and would rather be rooting for Wilmer and Brant than saving up to have the best #2 C in the league.

Reds confirm. Pretty straightforward. I've been looking for a Catcher to throw into my farm system for the last few months. High hopes that Cartaya can be that guy. Although Will Smith signing a 10 year deal makes his path a little tighter, he could always be traded or another role open up. I trust his talent to play somewhere and he's worth the investment.
