The Twins are doing this trade because we really like Ceda and think he has closer potential somewhere down the line. His K-rates in the minors are very impressive. I really like Perkins. He had a great year last year and hopefully his success will continue into next year. Some of his peripherals indicate that he probably won't be able to keep his mid-2 ERA, but he's still going to be getting a lot of holds (or maybe saves) for the Twins. He'll score plenty of points because holds and saves are scored the same in this league.
I don't plan on competing right now, so I think I can afford to give up a solid set up guy like Perk. I am getting 4 years younger in the deal, which will should help me with my goal to compete in a couple years.
