Division realignment

Same - I was 12 or so when they changed over.  Didn't care.

I was 6 when they changed over so don't remember it at all. That was also the year that the Northstars left MN. I didn't start following the NHL until the wild were an expansion team in 2000

The problem with the 'new' geographic division names is that not all align nicely with 5 teams that make sense in each of the Atlantic, Metropolitan, Central, and Pacific Divisions. (And what's with Metropolitan anyway....still think that's weird).

Hockey is about History kids. You may be young now but when you're in your 40's people around you won't know who Drew Doughty or Brad Marchand was. Adams, Patrick, Norris, and Smythe offer geo-neutral Division titles that let us mix and match without the weirdness of Pitsburgh being in the Canadian Division or Las Vegas being in the Pacific.

Long live Lubomir Visnovsky!

Might throw another wrench into this realignment talk with our replacement for Eric.

Here's my new proposal for divisions with the recent relocations.  I used both the new and old names for now until we decide on what to do.  This look OK?

ATLANTIC /  ADAMS
boston
montreal
ottawa
toronto
buffalo

METROPOLITAN / PATRICK
pittsburgh
new york rangers
philadelphia
washington
new york islanders

CENTRAL / NORRIS
winnipeg
chicago
st louis
nashville
detroit

PACIFIC / SMYTHE
vancouver
edmonton
vegas
colorado
arizona

Assuming Winnipeg in the Pacific should be Vegas?
