The Stros were in need of a LF and got one in Marte with 6 years of team control.  Pricey but we have a few vets that are going to make or break our team this year and with the addition of young blood who can stay cheap for at least 3 years is great.  We are hoping to get some great young players in the 2013 draft so the loss of the two early picks doesn't hurt as much.

Thanks to Chris for the tough negotiations but I have been looking at Marte for a while and it has finally come to fruition.

Marte is tough to part with but realistically if I'm going to rebuild I have to be all in with the strategy and not half way.  I really like Hader's potential, a projectable lefty who has performed well for his age against older competition.  The draft picks will probably be later round picks considering how good the Astros will be but it now gives me nine draft picks in the first three rounds of next year's draft which is pretty exciting.  The additional international money adds to my war chest for next year.  Thanks to the Astros for the negotiation.  It took a little back and forth but we got there.
