I build goon teams so counting pims always helps me , ha ha.  right now it looks like my team could use it.

I agree any changes should be kept to a minimum, but I find there is a tweaking process that happens in the first 3 years as you find out what works and doesnt work.  I have liked the changes that we have made.  Its made the league unique from the others that I am aware of on here as well increased the difficulty.

I have always tried to amend things to perfect our system, and always with a general consensus from the league.  I think all changes have been very democratic.  And changes that effect the way we make decisions on our rosters have been implemented in the future to give GM's time to adjust.  The way I see it, the changes that have been made have been to fix things that are broken more than anything.  And our scoring has never changed since day 1.

The NHL reduced the size of goalie pads and the size of the sides and rear of the net this year.  They make changes to enhance their product when they need to and we've done the same.

I've opened the floor for lengthy discussion on every change that's been made.  And I think every amendment we've approved has made our league better.

And to be clear, we're not changing PIM.  I completely agree with you on that.  I took this as tongue and cheek and responded as such.

I have been happy with the changes in the league and the way they have been handled. In my opinion though eventually you have to play a year or two with the current rules to see how the changes you have made effect the league.

You have done a great job running this league Rob and will likely be the only hockey league on ProFSL that I will be in.

:iatp:  Thanks Bob I appreciate that.  I think we've worked out a lot of kinks, like Jared mentioned, and I don't see any major changes in the near future.  Aside from adjusting salary cap relative to the NHL which is going to happen on a yearly basis.  But I see that more as keeping our market accurate to the real world than as a change.

Yeah, sorry, I didn't really want to change the scoring system.  If we did though I wouldn't mind.  But for now lets keep it the way it is to avoid any Bruins championships.  There is just no need to see that happen.

always causing chit around here Corey.

I will say the only scoring I wish we did have (but not looking to change anything) would be blocked shots.

I just find it gives that extra piece to dmen that are highly regarded in the "real NHL"  but really get no notice in fantasy leagues.  Ie. Dan Girardi (or basically every dman on NYR),  Francis Boullion, greg zannon, andrew macdonald,  etc.
It closes that gap between dmen and forwards so that the top dman scores similar points to the top forward.  There is still a gap but it gives those lower tier dman a value.

I toyed with that idea a while back.  I created a dummy league and added BS with different point totals and I didn't find that it added enough parity between dmen and forwards.  It certainly helped, no doubt, but I didn't think it was significant enough to change the rules.  Don't get me wrong, if I started this league again today I would totally include it, but at the time the better option was to reduce the extension prices to balance things out.

i agree.  I would very rarely ever recommend changing scoring in a league.  Unless there was a huge gaff.

I dont find it makes a big difference with the top tier guys its the utility dmen that you find a hidden value.  Those guys that log big mins and play penalty kill, but only contribute about 10 - 15pts a season.

Is it also hard to reward a junk penalty, ie the stick infractions. Hard to award a good penalty and penalize a bad penalty.

I agree that nothing should be changed.

But personally I think negative points for penalty minutes is kind of stupid...
Not saying positive points is the solution, but at least just cut out anything to do with PIMS would be more legit if you simply don't like them.

It cuts down the value of otherwise very good players... I'm thinking Perry and Getzlaf from a couple of years ago when they had more piss and vinegar in their game and were putting up 80+ points and 100PIMS each - because they play the game hard and don't take crap from anyone, they get in the occasional fight.
Even Jarome Iginla still, in his older age.... Sticks up for himself and fights his own battles, he doesn't have to wait for Shawn Thornton to fight his battles, or when he was in Calgary, didn't have Brian Mcgrattan do his fighting.
David Backes is another name that comes to mind. Even Ryan Kesler had a fight tonight... because he'll stick up for himself!

I know it's fantasy here, but seriously, negative points that take away some value from legit hockey players that play the game the right way? Seems silly.
