Red Sox trade:
C Avila, Alex, $5m (2016)
CI LaRoche, Adam, $2m (2013)

Cardinals trade:
C Lucroy, Jonathan, $3m (2015)
OF Dirks, Andy, $4m (2017)

The Cardinals make this trade to get LaRoche's higher production to help while Willingham is on the DL.  With Perez and Grandal catching we can afford to wait to see if Avila can get back on track.  Thanks Jeff.  Red Sox to confirm.

Red Sox confirm when we made original avila deal sox wanted lacroy but cost at time to high. After dealing fowler needed OFer for long term  again and cards proposed deal and laroche wasnt going to be resigned didnt have cap for it. Was win win for Sox both teams get exactly what we needed.
