Title: LA/Phillies trade
Post by: BHows on July 02, 2013, 09:38:35 PM

Jeff Samardzija (2014) $1.5M
for
Daniel Murphy (2017) $4M
Miles Head (P-n/a) $0.5M
Dodger to pay $2.5M for Daniel Murphy in 2013 and $4M in 2014
Dodger to pay $0.5M for Miles Head in 2013
With both A. Ogondo and J. Niese on the DL the Dodgers need SP just to keep up.  MI/CI Murphy is a backup but is tough to give up nonetheless; as is Head but  Samardzija is a Top 10 SP and will fit at the top of our rotation.
Thanks papps for the negotiations, is was fun!

Phillies confirm.  I am happy with getting Murphy who I think is a solid and consistent player.  I'm also hoping Head can make it to the bigs next year.  I was not going to resign Samardzija to an extension after next year based on the price.

Thanks Rick for the great negotiations!  :toast:
