Orioles do this deal to add another bat to our lineup in Rios and a RP in Melancon. We also add Morales and Coleman who may contribute at some point this year. Had to move a solid group of prospects to get the deal done but the Orioles were looking to make a move to help contend this year.

This took almost a couple weeks of negotiation and it was one of the better deals on the market for the productive Rios.  The Pirates bring in a top-grade spec with Olt, two mid/high-grade specs with Colvin/Matzek, and two low-grade specs with Alberto/Canderlario.  We also free up a bunch of cash for next year.

The rebuilding phase is here and the gates of the fire sale have opened early this season.
