Nationals trade:
MI Mark Ellis, $4.0m (2013)

Giants trade:
OF Alejandro De Aza, $5.5m (2014)
X-Alejandro De Aza, Cash exchanged 2013, $1.5m in 2013   

Nationals get younger with De Aza, an OF we really like.

Alejandro DeAza was my top player last year, but even with him, the Giants finished in 2nd place in the NL West--67 games behind the Dodgers.  I really needed to free up some cap space in 2014 and still try and remain somewhat competitive in 2013.

I am hopeful that Mark Ellis will help me do this by filling a need at MI.

I ask the Trade Council to approve this trade.
