Dallas gets

Tomas Plekanec, $5.0m (2015-2016)
C - Zack Phillips (2011: 1/28 - 0 Games)

Ottawa Gets

PK Subban, $0.9m (2012-2013)
Danny Cleary, $2.8m (2012-2013) salary cap reasons
2013 3rd rounder

We do this trade to get some long term centre depth. I have a few young studs on defence and wanted to turn one into a centre to help a spot of weakness on my team. Cleary is sent back to help with cap space this year. Once PK is extened his cap will be similar to plecanic. Thanks for the deal Ottawa.  :toast:

Ottawa Senators management confirm this trade.
We are parting with a 150pt Center to land a young 120pt blueliner who still has some potential to grow into.

Giving up Zack is tough but the 3rd Rd draft pick softens the blow.

Cleary will be helpful this year and if he contributes we can extend him, otherwise he can walk with no additional risk nor burden to our club.

seems like a decent deal.
:DAL-NHL: wins by off loading a guy who missed training camp and will be hit with a doozie of an extension... like 6.5m or something for a defenseman ranked 16th + picking up a forward who'll post anywhere from 30-50 more fantasy pts.

but both teams fill needs so good deal.

I view this a good trade and a fairly even one at that. Cleary was playing hard at the end of last season and everyone loves PK, but I still give a slight edge to Dallas as Plekanec is a consistently good center, and Ottawa is getting someone who'll exp growing pains, and also someone with aging pains

No harm to the Sens but dude have you seen PK's extension cost??? Damn dude. Hope you have a big wallet for extensions next season. At least Ottawa can deal away the 3rd and Danny boy for something more useful. That would make this trade even all around.
