Title: TRADE: Avs + Flames deal power forwards etc.
Post by: PigsRule on January 28, 2013, 10:09:40 PM
to :CLG: :CGY:
G - Sami Aittokallio (2010: 4/107 - 0 Games)
Round 2 - 2013 (COL)
Chris Stewart, $6.9m (2013-2014)

ship to :COL-NHL: :COL-NHL2:
Max Pacioretty, $3.7m (2013-2014)
D - Xavier Ouellet (2011: 2/48 - 0 Games)
Brandon Saad, 0.8m (2012-2013)
+ save $2.4m cap space

both teams are moving pieces to acquire preferred building blocks for their teams.
:CLG: is takes on more salary (extra $2.4 million) but gets a right winger that can help them to kick-start an anemic Calgary offence. the draft pick will be for the future ... same goes for the longterm goaltending project by the name of Aittokallio (too many vowels in that name!).

smooth trade negotiations.
CapnCally to confirm for :COL-NHL:

We agree.
Were offered this trade, and accepted straight up. Pieces fit what we're trying to do. Yes we lost the 2nd Round pick but we have picks, and almost full minors .
Cap didn't really matter but any space is good I suppose.
Not going to win this year so the fact that Patch is out doesn't matter.

Thanks for the offer.

Keep em coming fellas!

Best player is going to Colorado, Stewart hasn't done anything since the year after the trade to St. Louis and Pac had scored 30 goals last season.

Saad just broke into the league with Chicago and will be a cheap re-sign. Ouellet also played well for Team Canada at the WJC.

Don't see why a league run Calgary team would trade to acquire someone at almost double the price for their best player.

Sorry guys :veto:

I have to agree with drew here...  :veto:

Yes stewart has tons of potential... He has all but disapeared the last few years and has a massive cap hit.. Sadd is a good prospect and oullet just finished playing on team canada.. Paxy is a big goal scorer and shows no sign of slowing down... This trade will damage calgary now and in long run...

Hahahahahahaha. Sorry.
Smoking Gun.
Hahahahahahaa.

Does every player that plays on "Team Canada" make it to an all-star in the NHL?
Or is this just being biased and saying every Canadian junior player is superior to the rest of the world?
If he played in the WJC for team Latvia, would you bring that point up?

Holy sh*it, a guy played for Team Canada in the Junior tournament. He must be f'ing brillant and the next coming of Sidney Crosby or Shea Weber. No one dare trade them, they're going to be a f'ing all-star and top-30 player by the time they're 21 years old!

Give me a break.

Worry about your own teams.

Keep criticizing other peoples teams if it makes you feel better.
Keep sitting behind your computer screen calling other people out and trying to tell them what is best for their teams.

ever hear of inner voice?

I would LOVE to stick around and have a couple [ppl] tell me how to run my FREE FANTASY TEAM!

Haha.

I would love nothing better than to have my FREE FANTASY team - Let me stress: FANTASY TEAM - being told how to be run by a couple of random people I do not know.

Okay, maybe if Drew is Drew Doughty in secret, or maybe a former NHL GM or assistant GM, maybe then they'd hold some credibility. Hell, even an AHL GM.

This makes no sense.

Sleep on it Capn Cally. We've all had trades vetoed at some point. Don't let it get you down.

:iatp: This deal looks evenly split. Stewart had one down season and is bouncing back. Pacioretty is out 1 month which is 1/3 of our season and by the time he's in game shape 1/2 the season will be over.

Everyone else is raw unproven potential that may or may not become productive.

And reasonable in his assessment.

You can be angry and curse all you want about a trade, but this behavior toward other members is simply not acceptable.

Sorry for offending you Capn but as a tc member I made a decision on this trade. I see no benefit for Calgary to do this trade and it to be a determent to their franchise and I will not go into details as I stand by my reasons above.

thread cleaned + un-locked.

:COL-NHL: i understand you're upset... i'm disappointed in the 2 vetos as well but let's not start a flame. i'll write that off to the night Ryan Callahan got injured and you're PO'ed.

Everyone else, let's keep this fun but competitive (those who chose to rebut, why? no place for that here).

more insight on why :CLG: should make this deal...

Here are your Facts!

*Stewart is a point producing player at the scarce RW position... he had 1 off yr at age 25 i'd say there's still plenty of upside + Hitch is a great teacher in St.Louis

*FNHL's Calgary needs RW's (dealing a LW to pick up a Righty)

* Stewart's contract VS Max-Pac... listen, double, sure but also productive whereas Max is out a few wks - then in 2013-14, when both players are up for extensions guess what folks - their contracts will be the same in 7mths.

*Flames also need a top Goalie prospect, they get one in this deal with Finn Sami Aittokallio

*prospect defensemen... uh, aside from Dougie Hamilton + Drew Doughty how long does the typical Dman take to arrive in the NHL? like 4-7yrs after junior hky. then factor in Xavier Ouellet (2nd rd 48th overall 2011) is in the Detroit Red Wings' system... add another 2yrs ... remember Brendan Smith, DET 1st rd 27th overall in 2007!!!

*Saad is a slow footed "apparent/maybe power forward" for the Hawks - one who doesn;'t like contact, how many does that team already have in the system??? he'll be boom or bust... i say bust given he's being rushed to the NHL.

final thought: as for this deal hurting Calgary... the GM abandoning it hurt more. this trade is to help Calgary fight for a playoff spot by getting production at the thin RW spot using a LW'er that's on the IR for 1-mth + plug gaps in the MiLR at the critical Goalie position.

I understand why this deal is controversial, but I do not think it is that outrageous. Stewart is bouncing back this year and we all know how valuable and hard to come by goalies and good goalie prospects are. I also think positional needs are important and a good RW is usually more rare than a good LW.

I approve the trade.

I thought 2 vetos nixes the deal?

it's actually 3 votes either way per TC instructions + function...

Trade Committee:
...
These members are the active trade committee. They are responsible for approving trades.
Takes 3 approvals for the trade to be confirmed.
They are also responsible for:
- Commenting on trades
- Deciding who won/who lost
- The fairness of the trade
- Whether the trade was legit or set up
- Whether the trade would be a detriment to that franchise or the league.

[ commissioners ] will only put in their input when needed....those reasons are if trade has been on the board to long, a TC member is inolved in the trade or if its tied 3-3 in voteing!!

:iatp:

What's all the fuss about?
I see a team getting a killer farmhand puckstopper. I'll take him if this deal falls apart. LOL

Someone said Saad was good and I'd say yeah he'd be better if he wasn't promoted and laying low down in the farm getting better and not taking up a full time roster spot while outputting points like a 3 legged blind cat on ice. He's kind of useless this year no better than Erik Christensen on my Hawks.

Team getting Max wins now.
Flamers win starting next year.

Angry guy. You need to stop drinking and stroking the keyboard.

Tanking your team for three weeks is retarded.
If you want the 1st overall pick just trade for it next time instead pretending to play pretend GM.

No alcohol involved.

PPG you seem like a beaut so I'm not gonna trash you. No need for it anyways.

This league seems to be all over the map and a few other ppl have said so as well.
I can't keep up with a league with changing rules and weird ones at that.

Was sitting the roster b/c of the trade in question and b/c Drew at the time was being a complete douchebag (well, he still is actually, his PM's and emails were hilarious to read from a "grown" man), not b/c I was trying for a higher pick. That actually never crossed my mind, I'm not even thinking about the 2013 draft, the season just started haha.

I still think it's silly for a group of 8 other members of the same league to vote on a trade.
If one team is selling off good players to reubuild for the future, while another is selling their future (ie. prospects/draft picks) to compete to win this year, any owner on the trade committee that's competing with the team that just got the "better" NHL players could easily make up arguments against why the trade shouldn't go through. "This prospect isn't proven; This prospect is overrated; blah blah blah"

Again, said it before, but this is a free fantasy league. Why should people be telling other people how to run their teams in a FREE league, when for the most part, they don't have a clue who they are, where they're from, or what they look like? Seems ridiculous.
If we all bought in for $200 and had some skin in the game, then yeah, maybe let the league vote on trades. But in a free league? C'mon!

Anyways, that's all.

PPG, you've made a hell of a lot of good moves since coming in here and I still remember the stir you caused when you came in. What a shot in the arm, hilarious comments and calling people out. Love it, love your style. Keep it up - hell, if you have the time, take this league over and re-structure the hell out of it and I'll get back in here.

For the time being, I resign.

GL to everyone.

before too many opinions get thrown around + potential for a flame war is fuelled, we'll close this thread as it is not invalid due to :COL-NHL: owner exiting.

comment: it's one of the speedbumps in running a free league, it's sometimes too easy to check-out (been there myself in the past so i understand). but best to part ways as we're all here for a a good time, not drama.

thread closed.
