I was actually negotiating separate deals involving Pennington (trying to get him) and Guzman (selling), so it is funny how I got one of them and it is part of a 3-team trade that had Guzman going back to Washington!

Nats confirm. Nationals were paying all of Guzman's salary from the outset, thus Dan's post doesn't show any money being paid for his contract. Dumping Buerhle's contract for next season, and getting a top 35 pick to help for the future. Thanks Dan (and Colb?). :koolaid:

I was holding that pick for a particular player, but since I got James Gordon Beckham - aka the Commissioner - that pick become available.
