Title: Braves/Cards agree on blockbuster
Post by: Mr.TradeKing on July 20, 2010, 05:31:38 PM
:ATL: Sends:

CI-OF Dunn, Adam, $10m (2010)
X-CI-OF Dunn, Adam, Cash from OAK, $-9.5m in 2010

CI-MI Mora, Melvin, $2m (2010)

:STL: Sends:
CI Morneau, Justin, $13.5m (2013)
X-CI CI Morneau, Justin, Cash from STL, $-5m in 2010

This trade obviously hurts me at the present, but even if I were to make the playoffs this yr, I wouldn't have a realistic chance. I have been planning on 2011 and this deal makes a lot of sense. Morneau is under contract and will be less expensive than Dunn in the future. Morneau is also 2 yrs younger than Dunn.

Cardinals confirm.  With the uncertainty of Morneau's health for the remainder of this season we need an adequate replacement.  Dunn will be more expenvise than Morneau after this season but we free up salary for prospects and draft signing bonuses this year.

It looks like Paul read my playoff predictions.  Cardinals are looking good once again with Dunn in town.  Great money ball move by the Braves (my vote for the 2011 GM of the Year).

I'd think Rob's Athletics might have something to say about that.

Jake, appreciate the nod.  Our current statement on the matter is "No Comment".

Thanx Mike. My official comment on that is, "I always knew you were smarter than Jake and now I have proof."  :taco:
