Title: Cubs release

The Cubs would like to announce that they have cut ties with SP Jon Garland. The organization thanks him for his service and wishes him well on all his future endeavors.

Since he is under contract until 2014 at a base rate of $7m, I believe that his cost to the Cubs through the life of the contract should be as follows; $5.5m for 2012, $3.5m for 2013 and $2m for 2014. Please let me know if that is correct of not.
