Title: Redsox/Marlins trade
Post by: snbts on July 30, 2012, 10:20:28 PM

Jesus Solorzano SS Marlins #9 prospect (mlb.com)
2nd round pick next years draft

for

Beckett $15.75M 2012, $15.75M 2013, $15.75M 2014
cash $9M 2012, $7.75M 2013, $2M 2014

*I guess there is some rule you cant trade the same person to different teams.  Had to adjust Austin Brice who I previously traded to the Brewers for Jesus Solorzano

The Marlins are making this trade to add another starter to the club.  Unfortunately some of the past trades haven't panned out and lost some to injuries.  The cash helps to offset beckett salary. Hope this keeps us within striking distance of a crazy scoring Nationals team.

I did this to get the underwhelming Beckett outta Boston. Had to deal a little cash out in the future, but i couldnt see me dealing him w/o having to do so. I get a pick to gain a quality prospect, and Brice has good stuff, just needs some command to come along. Accept.

Good deal for :BOS3: imo.  As for Florida, you got to do what you got to do to win!
