If you have a player that is signed for lets say 10mil until 2012 and he retires after this season. Do you still pay him until 2012? I tried to find it in the rules and I wasnt able to find it.

I may be wrong, but I believe you are off the hook if the player retires.

You are NOT off the hook - the issue was discussed and no ruling was reached, meaning there is currently no exception in the rules letting you off the hook for a retired player (the rules state all money is guaranteed, so without a specific exception you are bound).

There are options for re-structuring a players contract or buying them out, but currently that's it.

I don't believe that we should make any exceptions for guaranteed deals be it retirement or injuries. That's part of the risk of handing out long-term deals. That said, I sympathize with owners who inherited those kind of messes. Then again, someone forgot to sign my prospects like Smoak and Feliz, so I can't feel too bad for them! :)

Once again this is a dead issue. I'll add a line about it to the rules (although I thought it was already there).
