Marlins are making this deal to clear some more cap room.  After just recently acquiring Stewart, he was never part of the long term plans for the Marlins.  He helped seal the deal with the rockies.  LaPorte is on the cheap side. He has struggled but is younger and could still end up the player that Cleveland expected.

cleveland confirms the acceptance of this deal as we deal away matt laporta a young prospect with power for IAN  stewart who fills an immidiate need @3b   :thumbsup:
