The Capitals and Senators have agreed on the following trade

To: Washington
1st round-1st overall
Mikeal Granlund
 

To: Ottawa
Braden Holtby
1st round-14th overall
Matt Read
 
The Capitals agree as we have 3 strong goalies and moving one allows us to fill other needs,allow us to draft Yaku and acquiring Granlund puts us in a good position forward

Just noticed after argeeing/posting: After looking at draft board, i thought i had 13 and had 13th in prospoal it turns out its 14th, if ottawa wants to cancel because of this i won't argue as its my mistake

The Ottawa Senators confirm!
We are fine with the 14th overall selection in the first round.

We make this trade to add an up and coming goaltender in Holtby and a solid top six forward in Read.

It was a lot tougher giving up the 1st pick overall in Nail as well as Granlund who should be in good hands playing alongside Parise, Koivu, Heatley and company in Minnesota this season for the NHL's Wild but we like the package of building blocks coming to Ottawa.

looks balanced but i'll give the edge to the Caps now especially if Yaku plays this season with RNH and Hall.

I think read is too much but maybe he won't have such a good year as last.
