Title: wild + panthers pull the trigger on a deal
Post by: PigsRule on July 13, 2012, 11:49:02 AM
going to :MIN-NHL: cap hit = 2.0m >> 2 players + 1 draft pick
:DAL-NHL: RW, Jaromir Jagr, $1.8m (2013-2014)
:MON-NHL: D, Alexei Emelin, $0.2m (2012-2013)
:NHL: Round 1 - 2012 (:PIT-NHL: via :FLO:) *** 6th Overall ***

shipped to :FLO: cap hit = 1.6m >> 1 player
:MIN-NHL: G, Josh Harding, $1.6m (2013-2014)

comments:
i'll call this trade "sold the farm for a hard-ing" or "sold my soul to drew"
RW's with cheap contract + good hits machine D with dirt cheap contract and a super high 1st rounder land me one of drew's 4 goalies.

the toughest pieces to part with are the 1st round (6th overall) and emelin.

as good as jagr is, drew and i both know he's old yet talented at the thin RW position. jagr's downside is similar to harding's.

harding missed all of 2010-11 with concussion and seems to land on the IR regularly even as a backup G, but at least he's not Dipietro.  :P

:MIN-NHL: to confirm. :toast:

I confirm, hard to give up young Harding but I have two goalies and get two players I can use that I don't have to pursue in free agency. Key is getting the 6th pick to hopefully add another superstar into the mix in Minny. Thanks PigsRule for the negotiations  :toast:

i think it's too much for a back-up goalie so i have no choice to  :veto:

To be fair Backstrom only had 60 more points than Harding and Harding could over take him this season as Backstrom is in last year of his contract.

But also fair enough.

We will talk about it, if the event rises. Those are two options but might be some others haha.

Trade Approved

Harding was signed to Starting Goalie type money earlier this offseason, and should be a 1-B goalie this year in Minnesota. Look for him to be a full-time starter next season.

I think it's a fair trade for both teams.
