We currently have a hard cap set in the rulebook of $69.2m, but if there is enough support, we can choose to adjust our salary cap each year to mirror what the real NHL's cap is set at.
Some years the cap goes up by about 5-6 million, and other years it goes down by just as much. This would help simulate what a real GM goes through each off season, and it could add an interesting dynamic to contract negotiations and free agent signings because there would always be a small uncertainty as to what next year's cap would be.
It could also assist in bringing parity to the league: if I'm a top team and the cap goes down, I might have to dump some decent players to get under, which the struggling teams could use to get better.

I would be ok with it mimicking the real NHL cap.

i'm in agreement with keeping our cap in line with the NHL's salary cap. that's one of the rules i like in this league... to mirror the NHL as much as humanly possible in fantasy hky. thx

I have no issues there. That was my thinking the whole time.

SizzRat has made the decision to mirror the NHL cap.

2.) The salary cap for the 2012-2013 season will mirror the real life NHL's cap at 70.3, and I'm putting it into effect today - Each roster page has been updated to reflect these new salary cap figures.
