In order to appease manager Wally Backman, the Reds have gone back to the Twins to reacquire managerial favorite

CI-OF Belt, Brandon, $0.5m (P-2014)


for (Twins get)
CI Yelich, Christian, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI Smoak, Justin, $0.5m (P-2013)
OF Snider, Travis, $0.5m (2012) 1.0m (2014)   

The Reds know this is an overpay, but we do this to appease our manager who went berserk when he heard that Belt was traded several weeks ago. He has been pouting ever since. Upper management finally gave into his demands to reacquire the burgeoning slugger, parting ways with players that we are still high on, but can no longer wait on results in the heat of a pennant race. I hope Mark gives them a nice home in the Twin cities.

I really like Belt but I like the return I am getting for him better. I really like Snider who is hitting good in AAA and hopefully be called up soon. I like Smoak who can hopefully start hitting better and Yelich who is a prospect I really like.

Smoak has such good upside but has been terrible.  Sometimes top rated prospects don't work out.
