CI Hinze, Kody, $0.5m (P-n/a)
P Krol, Ian, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Russell, Kyle, $0.5m (2013)
OF Spilborghs, Ryan, $1.5m (2012)
P Elbert, Scott, $0.5m (P-2014)

Dan: I can process these but just so you are aware only 1.5M is cleared, dropping Russel and  Spilborghs does not clear cap space. Please confirm you want to proceed.

Drop the guys that create the 1.5 mil please

Also please release Andres Torres

Dropping Torres will open up 1M in cap space. Dan, do you want to forfeit your bids on Berry and Pod, you need to open up another 1.5M in cap space to sign those two.

I don't believe that the bids on Berry and Pod can be rescinded, because they were major league bids.  We went through this last year with Wily Mo Pena.  Dan needs to make a trade or cut more prospects.

Ill give up those bids if its possible. I was running off the I thought updated rosters and made all these trades under that assumption so I am very sorry rcan that u r so upset.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe that you can give up those bids without opening up a HUGE can of worms and creating a new precedent.  We have NEVER let owners walk away from bids.  In my opinion, we are all responsible for managing our salary caps whether the rosters are updated or not.

Can there be a ruling on this before I decide what Im doing

I will let DW decide this one but there was precedent set before:

If there has already been a precedent then I dont expect it to be changed
Please Drop

P Font, Wilmer, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI Hinze, Kody, $0.5m (P-n/a)
P Krol, Ian, $0.5m (P-n/a)
P Elbert, Scott, $0.5m (P-2014)

This will clear 1.5m I will work on the rest

Dan, this is your current roster, including all Prospect Contract drops, signing of Accardo, and dropping of Torres. (There was a mistake in the prior version of the roster. Rutledge should not on the EDR so an extra 50k of salary is added)

It was my understanding that Ellis was taken from the former owner due to extenuating circumstances beyond finances that I believe should remain private out of respect to the parties involved.

PM me if you wish to discuss this further.

I am keeping Torres only dropping the 4 specs for now so how much more shall i look to clear?
Title: Re: Yanks Roster moves
Post by: Dan Wood on June 13, 2012, 12:06:59 PM
Ellis was put back into bidding because the owner couldn't cover the check, and did not within a week after being asked to do so. So rather than pick and choose who to drop, it was decided that it was best to offer Ellis back to the league. That owner lost a draft pick because of his excessive bidding. It is the same situation here. OU has paid his fine via picks, and dropped players to get to cap (almost), Berry will be added back to bidding. Since there are no other bids on Pods, OU is responsible for that contract. Those owners, in on Berry, will be given the opportunity to have their bids validated or not. Much in the same way the Ellis situation presented itself.

Unfortunately this is a situation that has only presented itself twice in which punishment has had to be doled out, and I do not enjoy it. I understand that one can lose track of their finances, and this has been considered when deciding on the measures taken in both cases. I have also discussed this with the two league commissioners and they agree with the actions that will be taken.

Adding Torres back to your roster will add an additional one million to your most recent roster posting. Leaving you +1.5 mil.  You still have to cover Podsednik +.5...should you choose to keep Berry + 1.5, then you need to cover him as well.
Title: Re: Yanks Roster moves
Post by: OUDAN on June 13, 2012, 12:12:06 PM
Ok so if I keep berry I need 4 mil otherwise I need 2.5 more room?
Title: Re: Yanks Roster moves
Post by: Dan Wood on June 13, 2012, 12:15:23 PM
Right now you are at +.5
Torres is + 1
Pod is + .5

so you would have to clear an additional 2 mil, 3.5 if you want Berry

So far just drop those 4 specs im workin on a trade as we speak

:NYY: would also like to drop P Rodriguez, Fernando, $0.5m (P-n/a)
With that and this trade I should be at the cap

When Ellis was given away, it was my fault for not logging in for a couple of weeks in which I was extremely busy, I knew which players I was dropping to open the cap space, but he was awarded to the next high bidder because of my lateness. I never asked to withdraw my bid, yet the set precedent exists I guess.
