Title: Phillies - Nats Trade
Post by: papps on May 20, 2012, 05:34:54 PM

Phillies send:

MI Rollins, Jimmy, $5.5m (2014)
X-MI Rollins, Jimmy, Cash Exchanged on Contract, $-3m in 2012
OF Byrd, Marlon, $5m (2012)
X-OF Byrd, Marlon, Cash Exchange on Contract through 2012, $-5m in 2012

for

OF Brantley, Michael, $0.5m (P-2013)

Phillies do this deal to get younger.  Byrd was not going to be resigned and I do value Rollins but I need more help in the OF.  This also saves me cap room for next year.

Thanks Jake for the easy negotiations  :toth:

Nationals confirm.  Rollins hasn't scored much this season, but he's a good gamble for me given my lack of another quality MI to replace Ellis.  Still gonna have a losing record this week, but hopefully next week looks better for me.

Thanks Chris.

I would think Rollins would fetch more in this shallow MI world.
