Contract?
Need to drop 2 players.
-
1 yr/ 2M deal
To make room, Casey Blake has decided to retire (no cap hit). I have my roster at 40 by my count, I will release another player as soon as it is confirmed I need to drop more than one player. Thanks Paul. :toast:

The drop of Blake is all that is needed. I believe there will still be a $2m cap hit on Blake after his retirement. The RC may need to address this.

Indeed. I can't remember which league this was addressed in, but the way I see it is that in real life MLB (which we try to emulate at all costs) when a player retires before their contract expires the contract then becomes void from that moment forward, thus no monies are owed. I'll bring it up to Dan sometime today :toast:

I don't believe that retirement in real life absolves owners of their future obligations in this league. I am pretty sure that this has been discussed many times, and this was the conclusion that was reached every time it came up.

I've had it adequately explained to me and I am fully on board with the rules. I had only been in the league for a couple of months at the time the discussion took place and I did not remember it when I made my post (because I didn't read it at the time as I was only worried about trying to figure out how in the heck the scoring was being computed). That being said, I think the TC should look into making exceptions to those in the final year of a deal or one year deals. I'll bring it up again in the off season or something. :toast:
