Title: Cubs/A's Trade
Post by: Needle Juice on June 14, 2010, 10:35:47 AM
The Cubs and A's have agreed to the following deal:

 :CHC: receives
P Fister, Doug, $0.5m (P-n/a) plus signing bonus of $0.5m in 2010

 :OAK: receives
P Withrow, Chris, $0.5m (P-n/a)
10-4 CHC

I believe I am selling high on Fister, even with his current shoulder issue.  His numbers were not that great in the minors, especially his GB%.  Fister does have a very good contract and could continue as he has been pitching in 2010.  I get a very good young arm in return and a draft pick.

Good deal for both.

Accepted... Withrow has some potential, but Fister is already producing and can be had for $500k/year through 2013.

:iatp: I see both sides here. I personally turned down Fister with the same argument, but I am no fortune teller. Both sides get good value and time will tell who won.

Good trade for both. Fister pitches in a cavern and has shown he can be a viable starter. Coming into last year Withrow had question marks surrounding his prospect status. Even though he has a higher ceiling, nothing is guaranteed when it comes to prospects.
