Title: Holliday traded to Philly
Post by: Bronx Bombers on June 09, 2010, 10:24:20 AM
ESPN's Pedro Gomez has reported that a big trade between two big-market teams is happening.  Matt Holliday, who is fresh off his 5-year $85m contract from the Angels, has been shopped by the front office who is looking to have a leaner fiscal future while keeping the team in the hunt for an NL West title in 2010.  Several other teams were apparently in the hunt including the Braves, Reds, Twins, Rangers, and Yankees.  However, the package the Phillies are sending includes a Cy Young candidate and a speedy young OF with a potentially decent bat.

:LAA: receives
SP Greinke, Zack, $9.5m (2012)
CI Encarnacion, Edwin, $4m (2010)
OF Jones, Adam, $2.5m (2012)

:PHI: receives
OF Holliday, Matt, $17m (2014)

I am confused by the Millwood comment.  Is he supposed to be included in the deal?

Initially I cringed when i saw the title but the angels get a good return here. Especially bc in  my book there r very few 17 mil a yr guys. Greinke and Jones who r cheap. The phillies get a solid bat.  :iatp:

Approved.  Deal looks fine on both ends.
