Yankees trade to A's
MI Cano, Robinson, $7.5m (2013) + $7m this year from Yankees
P Fister, Doug, $0.5m (P-n/a) plus signing bonus of $0.5m in 2010
for
P Lincecum, Tim, $0.5m (P-2010)
MI Hill, Aaron, $3m (2014)
================
Cano has been stellar this year, but like my past moves with A-Rod and Jeter, this move improves my team and helps my contract situation. Lincecum will be owed a handsome sum of money, so I don't know if I will sign him next year, but he'll certainly produce alongside the best rotation in the bigs.
Rob, good dealin' with you.

I really like Cano and like his contract situation for the next few years. Being a small market team, I was not going to be able to resign Lincecum, this allows me to get something for him while I could. He has not been his usual self in the last few starts, so it was time to make a move.
Hill is struggling this year, he was going to be a long term MI for me, but Cano is a much greater OBP guy and hitter overall. Fister is an add in, hopefully the shoulder injury is nothing major.
Other offers received were just prospects and expiring contracts. This gets me an impact guy.
Good deal for both and a pleasure working with the Yanks.

Great deal guys, Cano one of, if not the most undervalued player in baseball.

:iatp: However I question why the yanks would do this if they were unsure if they would resign lince.

I approve of this deal as well. The Yankees obviously want to and can win. Cano isn't much of a liability shed, but Lincecum improves this team much more than the loss of Cano since the Yankees are so deep (and they are receiving Hill back).
-
IMO, Hill has the ability to swing this deal in either direction.

Nice job by the Yankees of keeping his roster loaded while upgrading his Pitchers. Also, Cano will be a nice addition for the A's.
