Title: Braves and A's...again
Post by: Mr.TradeKing on June 06, 2010, 09:45:39 PM
:ATL: receives:
RP Takashi, Saito $1.5m (2010) w/ .5m in Cash Considerations from OAK in 2010

for

:OAK: receives:
OF Schafer, Jordan $0.5m (P-n/a)

Why not? I am only losing .5m in cap space and he could be well worth it when he comes back.

P.S. still looking for another RP and/or SP.

Confirmed.

I like Schafer and need some OF depth. Saito is good, but minor injuries can slow down a pitcher at his age.

The deal with the Royals omitted the $0.5m toward Rosales, this is currently being corrected.  When/if Belisaro signing is final, I think I am over the cap $0.5m, this moves also fixes this possibility.

An earlier trade was vetoed because "P's are not worth a whole lot in this league not to mention RPs are even less valuable".  It was finally passed after Mat Gamel and Allen Craig were substituted for Daniel Bard and a draft pick.

Now an ancient Japanese RP is traded straight up for a former top hitting prospect.  That same hitting prospect had previously been offered straight up for Mat Gamel.  Go figure!

Keyword: former. He was struggling triple A and is now trying to come back from wrist surgery. He is a far cry from adrian  gonzalez.

 :iatp:

Schafer has potential but has been struggling in AAA/MLB ever since his call-up last year.  Saito could contribute when he isn't hurt.  Good trade for the A's.

Who compared him to Adrian Gonzalez?  The A's get the upper hand so no problem.

I think that same hitting prospect has been offered to everyone

you are entitled to your opinion, but i don't understand what your trying to do. In your first post u referenced your gonzo trade that was originally veteoed. I was simply saying that I was trading schafer for a rp, not gonzo.
