Title: A's and Reds swap players
Post by: Dan Wood on May 31, 2010, 08:27:04 PM
A's get
CI Smoak, Justin, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Reds get
OF Dunn, Adam, $10m (2010)
+9.5 mil

A's to agree. I do this because Dunn is a monster in this format and still has another 3 or 4 good years left in him. Giving up the best first base prospect in baseball is tough to do, but I want production from my CI now.

Confirmed.

This was my chance to get something for Dunn, can't afford 20+ mil next year.  The Morales deal changed the outlook on my season a bit.  I believe I can win the West, even going young, but winning it all is a stretch.  I need to make sure that the A's are competitive for years.

:iatp:  This is a good trade.  The Reds give up a top prospect in order to make a run this year.
