MI Cliff Pennington $0.5m (P-2012)
MI/CI/OF Mark DeRosa $7.0m (2013)
$6.5m from STL in 2010
Cardinals get:
C Russell Martin $4.0m (2012)
$3.5m from ATL in 2010
MI Mike Aviles $2.5m (2012)
We deal from a surplus at CI and reduce some salary for the 2011 season. Reds to confirm.

Reds confirm. The Reds are excited to add some pop to their line up which has consisted of Josh Hamilton, Ike Davis and not much else. DeRosa's contract is a bit hefty, but he is a very valuable player when healthy. Cliff Pennington has proved to be a very solid player. It is unfortunate to see Martin and Aviles go, but Glaus and DeRosa were too good to pass up.
When this deal is approved the Reds will post who will be dropped since this puts me over 40.
