Title: Boston Bruins Cuts
Post by: joeshmoe on March 27, 2012, 11:04:00 AM
Gregory Campbell, $1.1m (2011-2012) buyout = .8m.  (:BOS-NHL: net +.3m)
Teemu Selanne, $1.8m (2011-2012) buyout = 1.2m. (+.6m)
Buy Out/Release (1) - $0.8m Daniel Paille, $0.8m (2011-2012) Washington signed to a .2m contract.  (+.2m)
Liam Reddox, $0.4m (2012-2013) .4m x 2yr = .8m x buyout = .5m paid all in 2011-12 (-.1m)

:BOS-NHL: Cap to begin was 1.3m.  You then add 1m to the figure after the above transactions.  :BOS-NHL: Cap is 2.3m.  Next:

Mike Knuble, $2.0m, (2013-2014) 2m x 3 yr = 6m.  6m x buyout = 4m.  Buyout all in one year.  (2.3m cap + 2m from MKnubs Contract = 4.3m in room.  4m buyout leaves :BOS-NHL: with .3m)

Marc Savard, $4.0m (2013-2014) 4m x 3 yr = 12m.  12m x buyout = 8m.  Buyout looks like this; 4m in 2011-12, 4m in 2012-13.  There is no net change from this transaction on the salary cap of this year.  :BOS-NHL: has .3m in cap!

I believe buyouts have to be equal according to the rules for Marc Savard.

Quote
Releasing Players Under Contract
A buyout will occur for 66.66% of the contract value to be paid in equal installments.  This may be spread out over the years remaining in the bought-out contract.
