Waldron Buyout would be $1.5m
2026 Cap hit- $0.5
2027 Cap hit- $0.5
$1m total x 1.1= $1.1 rounded to $1.5m
Proceed?

Buyout Rules:
3. The hit against the cap is rounded to the nearest $500,000. Therefore, if it ends up being $250,000 or less, the hit to the cap will be zero for that year.
$1m x 1.1 = $1.1m less then $250,000 so it does not round up. That's how I read it. I released a 2 year $500K player last year and it was only $1m as well.
Proceed with the release either way, please let me know if I read the rule incorrectly.
Thanks!

The Cap hit can be rounded down. Once that is done and you Buyout you have to round up.
Money owed to a player released under contract may be financed through a contract buyout. This is done by first releasing the player by using the aforementioned formula (Releasing Players). Then the remaining contract amounts are added together, multiplied by 1.1, and the total is rounded up to the nearest $0.5m

OK. Seems weird to have to pay more then the original contract. I signed him to a 2yr $500K contract and after one year he gets the whole $1m. He got rewarded for being awful I guess. Seems like a rule we should clear up in the offseason. We will have plenty of time!

If we scrap all of this and rewrite it after 5:00P you can save money on all 3 transactions. I thought you understood that from reading our correspondence the other day.

OK...Lets wait. Just needs to be done I guess before my to bids are finalized.

It's all in the time stamp. I'm going to send this to "Invalid", you'll have to rewrite the entire thing but use 75/50/25%. Remember- .25 rounds down to 0 so it stands to reason that .75 rounds down to .50.
You still have to round up on your buyout

Sounds good...I'll repost after 5 eastern. Thanks!
