Title: Dodgers/Guardians Reworked trade 6/7/26 10:18 AM
Post by: BHows on June 07, 2026, 09:54:39 AM
Dodgers send:
C. Simpson OF TBR $0.5m 1st
E. Tait C MIN $0.5m 2050
E. Pecko P HOU  $0.5m 2050
L. Groover $0.5m 2050

Guardians send:
C. Burns P CIN $0.5m 1st
E. Rodriquez OF MIN $0.5m 2050

Giving up a lot of offensive prospect talent for pitching is not something I normally do but I feel like Burns is an exception. He's cheaply controllable for a number of years.
I've got pretty decent young CIs so it's a little easier to let Groover go. Still have Duno at C so Tait is kind of expendable. I'm a little short in OF in minors, Rodriquez helps.

Thanks Brian for the trade, confirm when you can.

sorry guys, I'm going to veto this one.  While the McAdoo/Groover swap solves the 60 day rule, adding in Emmanuel Rodriguez makes it even more lopsided.  I don't understand how this is a fair trade.  Using BA's most recent ranks:

Dodgers send:
C. Simpson OF TBR $0.5m 1st (#271 MLB dynasty player)
E. Tait C MIN $0.5m 2050 (#128 prospect)
E. Pecko P HOU  $0.5m 2050 (#249 prospect)
L. Groover $0.5m 2050 (#201 prospect)

Guardians send:
C. Burns P CIN $0.5m 1st (#44 MLB dynasty player)
E. Rodriquez OF MIN $0.5m 2050 (#35 prospect)

I'm using BA rankings, but other lists are similar.  Chase Burns is pitching like an ace, and he's in his 1st year in the majors in terms of his contract.  LAD is getting by far the best major leaguer in the deal and the highest ranked (albeit frequently injured) prospect.  I understand that hitter scoring > pitcher scoring in this league, but #1 starter-level pitching is really valuable to make the most out of the 70 IP per week.  I just don't understand how this trade helps CLE either now or in the future.

I approve this trade, reluctantly.

I have a much different opinion and most places I have seen have a much different opinion on Tait then listed below.  I have seen him in the top 50 of most prospect rankings.  Would I have done the trade, probably not.  But do I think it is veto worry, no not at this time.

All I know about BA is that we use it to place draftees for those who get skipped in our draft. Never subscribed to it and I prefer to rely on where a player was actually picked rather than the opinion of a panel of people sitting behind keyboards when I consider drafting a player.
So here's what MLB. com had to say:
E. Tait- #4 catcher. #52 overall. He's expendable because I also roster the #2 C in their opinion
L. Groover- #9 3B. Don't know how you can be #9 at a position and not be Top 100. He is currently playing in MLB.
E. Pecko- Houston's #6 prospect
C. Simpson- Was hitting .308 w/14 SB when I traded for him. He's slumping a little now but he's got more points than all but 1 of CLE current OF
Just so you all understand that I'm not taking advantage of anyone. Depending on who's opinion you value, that's a pretty nice package. Besides, I approached CLE about Burns. Except for swapping Groover for McAdoo, these are the players he requested.

I'm sorry.  I've been out of sorts lately having just gotten back into town.

I would have approved this based on the following:

1.  I am in the camp of not interfering with trades unless it is collusive or is drastically lopsided.  Prospects are notoriously values differently. I don't believe this trade meets this criteria.

2. These two GMs have been here for a long time and have built up credibility to make trades they believe will benefit their team.  In this case, both GMs do

The rule is unclear when there are ties and I believe the spirit of the rule is to time box the decision, not prevent a trade because it ties due to lack of a majority on one side or another:

6.) If the 48 hour time period passes, the trade will be ruled valid if it receives at least two approvals.  This will be viewed as a process of a simple majority (2 approvals vs. 1 veto), since two vetoes would automatically stop a trade.

If there's a disagreement here on this, I'm happy to let the trade be reposted and take a revote.

I'm 100% ok being outvoted on this.  I said my piece, and the process worked as it was supposed to.
