Title: Salary Intervals
Post by: bridgestone on May 13, 2010, 04:22:49 PM
This was brought up in the Agents vs. GMs rules discussion.  We should consider using salary intervals of $250k when the annual salary is less than $1.5m.  This would help out the roster decisions of teams, especially small-market, a lot more.

So are you proposing $250k increments for salaries up until a signing goes over $1.5m, which at that point it will be in increments of $500k?

Just want to clarify, Mike. :koolaid:

Yeah, that may be a bit confusing, but this is something we are doing in Agents vs. GMs.  It gives more flexibility for small contracts.

Hmm...it seems like a pretty decent proposal.  It would only benefit...well, probably all teams, since all teams have these types of contracts.

However, we would have to change prospect contracts to $250k, and there are many of them.  How would we go about this, grandfathering prior prospect contracts to stay at $500k, and all new prospects (say the signings of this year's ED players) would start with these new salaries?

That would seem a bit confusing, having prospects out there with both $500k and $250k contracts.

A seemingly ok idea, but I'm confused on how we could implement it without hurting the league in some way.

A good point... this may add too much confusion with prospect contracts.  Oh well, this is why we have other leagues here at MLFB.
