Title: Tigers and Rays come to blockbuster agreement

OF Crawford, Carl, $12m (2014)
CI Iwamura, Akinori, $2.5m (2010)
C Jaso, John, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI Pena, Carlos, $8m (2010) rays send 4 mil to cover contractin (2010)
SP Shields, James, $3m (2014)
MI Beckham, Tim, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Tigers deal:
SP Bonderman, Jeremy, $9.5m (2010)
MI Ramirez, Hanley, $11.5m (2014)
OF Young, Delwyn, $0.5m (P-2010)
C Wieters, Matt, $0.5m (P-2012)

and tigers drop C Phillips, Paul, $0.5m (2010) to equal out numbers for contracts

Rays accept this deal.

While severely damaging the depth of our team, this move sets the Rays up nicely for a strong run in 2011 and 2012 with several Rays prospects set to become regulars in 2011 and some bad money coming off the books after 2010.  Tigers add some valuable depth, the reigning AL HR champ, a top 10 OF and the staff #1 for the best team in baseball (4-1 Big Game James). The centerpieces for both teams are locked up and cost controlled for next several years as well.

Wow, big deal.  I think that Wieters and Hanley are great acquisitions for TB, while the price certainly was fair.

I didn't know Crawford was on the block... figured he would stay as a Ray after he signed the extension.  Big names in this deal:  Hanley/Wieters vs. Crawford/Shields/Pena.  Beckham and Young are the wildcards but overall this deal has a lot of even value.
