:PHI: gets
OF Werth, Jayson, $5m (2010)
OF Dukes, Elijah, $0.5m (P-2010)
8-8 CHC (from CHC from LAA from CHC from OAK)
:LAA: gets
OF Ibanez, Raul, $10.5m (2011) + $7.5m/year through 2011
C Conger, Hank, $0.5m (P-n/a)
2-9 LAA (from CIN)
This deal has been in the talks for quite some time. Basically, I took on Werth to build up my outfield but then I also traded for Lee and then other supporting cast. Steph wasn't thrilled about trading Weth but had to patch up the infield and has been offering ways to get him back.
It turns out that the financial situation for the Angels won't let us sign Butler, V-Mart, and Werth. I would rather sign Butler in the off-season than Werth. Ibanez at $3m for this year and the next is a good asset. Bringing back Conger (sounds like a sitcom) and a high draft pick helps me for the future.

I understand the logic here and feel like this is decent looking at each team's needs. However I hate to see Werth back on my division rival's roster.

I understand the logic, I am struggling with the value. This was the previous trade:
Phillies trade away
CI Dobbs, Greg, $1.5m (2010)
P Bisenius, Joe, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Werth, Jayson, $5m (2010)
for Angels'
C Conger, Hank, $0.5m (P-n/a)
MI Figgins, Chone, $3m (2011)
P Gonzalez, Gio, $0.5m (P-2012)
P Gregerson, Luke, $0.5m (P-2012)
2-9 LAA (from CIN)
Sure Conger and the Draft Pick returns, but is Ibanez really equal to a very inexpensive Figgins, Gio - a risky prospect at the time, and Gregerson a good arm? Dobbs and Bisensius serve Philly better by getting rid of them.
I am going to have to think about this one.

I like Rob's point here... the Angels should be getting some more value in return (prospects, picks) to prevent this seemingly arbitrage situation.
-
I agree with what Rob said as well. Devin could get a bit more here... suggested retail value being the Phillies 3rd rounder, not trading the 8th rounder, and top reliever Chad Durbin (Devin could exchange the injured Jim Johnson who could be dropped for free).

Angels agreed to my new proposal (I want Werth back!)...
:PHI: gets

P Naylor, Drew, $0.5m (P-n/a)
2-9 LAA (from CIN)
7-20 LAA (from COL)
7-25 LAA
:iatp: More picks, better relief pitching? Sure...

If this is the final trade I'll approve. I will reserve the right to withdraw the approval should further trade history come into question

Approved, Werth having to be resigned comes into play....

I think the new deal has plenty of approval. :judge:
