I bring in a much more capable catcher than the two young guys that I have plus two starting pitchers that I really need to patch up my roster. I really liked Vitters as my future CI along with A-Rod, but this deal fixes so much right now that I couldn't pass it up. Cueto and Kawamaki could prove to be very valuable by year's end.

I cut cap and bring in cheap talent that can make me into a contender in a yr 2. I have Doumit at C so trading Martin wasn't a big deal. Plus I add a cple early picks.

Two top prospects - Sanchez and Vitters, along with the draft picks look to be good value for Cueto and Martin. KK is probably as much a liablity as he is an asset. Cut in payroll.

Yeah, Kawamaki's contract from my end is $5m (2011)... not too horrible. The guy has the stuff and the Japanese experience, so it's worth a gamble... he at least fills the rotation as a slightly-below average SP.
