Title: Opinions about Fantrax

Please use this thread to share your opinions about and experience with Fantrax. Just trying to figure out the best way to move forward with things.

1.) The functions that I have used on Fantrax seem to be satisfactory although I personally have nothing to compare them to.
2.) My experiences with their support has been very good. Very quick response but their answers aren't too detailed. Usually requires a couple messages to get things resolved.
3.) Their team that adds players can be contrary. When requesting a player they require you to "prove" that player exists. Usually a link to the player's Baseball Reference page will do. Sometimes it doesn't.
All in all a pretty good experience

I think that FT is great for day-to-day operations of the rosters (as opposed to Yahoo, CBS Sports, etc.). I would not revert to another option.

While more off-site operations (transactions, FA) _could_ be moved to FT, as Roy demonstrated, I actually prefer to have an external site that handles all of the operations. I am probably just old-fashioned in that regard, but the trifecta of FT-spreadsheet-offline forum is the one I prefer.

I like FT for day-to-day operations, etc.

Contracts in FT seem to be decent. The few leagues I am in that have contracts on FT all have different terminology for how contracts are entered, but that's pretty easy to get used to.

I don't like FT's message board feature for Free Agency.

I'm in a few off-site leagues that have a site for administration to include rules, drafts, free agency, waivers, etc. Then FT for day to day operations and contracts.

The one thing I don't like about FT's contracts is that you don't get a visualization of the contract in years, just normally a final year or how they encode ARB contracts. The SS's show each year and for me that's easier to track how long someone is under contract for roster planning.

If it is something that can be done on Fantrax great. I tend to use proboards more for these sort of leagues rather than profsl. Anything simpler works for me

Same. Most of the leagues I am in now have the admin stuff on Proboards and scoring/contracts on Fantrax.

I see contracts are being uploaded into Fantrax.  I'm not sure what we'll use to indicate how long a contract is for or if it's a prospect or now, but here is a couple ideas.

Prospect below threshold:
$0.5 and for the Year enter Spec or Prospect or even just a P

Prospect over threshold:
$0.5M and the the last year of the contract with a P either before or after.
Michael Busch $0.5M 2027P or P-2027 something like that.

A normal contract signed in FA or an Extension would be:
Gunnar Henderson $12.0 2029

Sorry.  I didn't read this earlier.  I posted this on another thread.  Here's how the contacts will work:

P-n/a = 2050 => 1st after the season the player exceeds the prospect maximum
P-2027 = 1st
P-2026 = 2nd
P-2025 = 3rd -- last year of prospect contract

All other contacts are the year the contract expires.

I'll have to come up with something when an extension is made in-season.
