Just a quick but crucial heads-up regarding player extensions for your teams: While many leagues handle extensions in the offseason, in Moneyball, all extensions must be completed by the end of the MLB regular season. Extensions take effect immediately in the current 2025 season, meaning you need to have sufficient 2025 cap funds available to cover these renewed contracts. Any player on a (2025) or (6th) year contract is in their final year and must be extended before the MLB regular season concludes, or they will become free agents. With our trade deadline just six days away and cap transactions freezing once our fantasy playoffs begin in late August, it's vital to pragmatically plan your roster and salary cap now to ensure you can retain your key players. Please ensure you understand these deadlines, as no exceptions will be made for lack of awareness.
I would like to suggest one exception not related to ignorance: For any new GM taking over a previously abandoned team, I'd like to implement an "Orphan Team Exception" where new managers will have the opportunity to extend players left un-extended by the previous GM who vacated the team. In case a GM ghosts us and leaves important players un-extended that would help the new GM compete. Please let me know your thoughts on this idea.
