Title: Trade: ARZ & CHC
Post by: TheProfessor on January 01, 2025, 11:47:13 AM
:ARZ: receives:
CI   Ralphy Velazquez   P-n/a    $ 0.5 (minors)
CI/OF    Addison Barger   P-2027    $ 0.5
MI    Jackson Holliday   P-2027    $ 0.5
MI   Tyson Lewis   P-n/a    $ 0.5
SP   Fernando Perez   P-n/a    $ 0.5
SP   Paul Skenes   P-2027    $ 0.5

:CHC: receives:
MI    Gunnar Henderson   2029    $ 12.0
OF    Michael Harris   P-2025    $ 0.5
SP    Jared Jones   P-2027    $ 0.5

Giving up Skenes hurts and I am a big believer in Holliday, but IMO Gunnar is the most valuable player in baseball. Harris helps fill a need in the OF, and Jones hopefully soaks up a few innings that I lose in dealing Skenes.

@MauriceAJR to confirm - thanks!

Confirm, first major move for Arz. Gunnar isn?t going to win this in Arz alone. I began two of my favorite players and great minors.

I could see Henderson for Holiday ir you prefer one over the other. Even that doesn't set well with me though because Cubs are taking on an additional $12m in salary.
Throw in the NL ROY to get Henderson  and his salary is too much IMO.
Sorry, I have to veto.

@BHows - while I can appreciate that POV, I also don't agree that Holliday will ever become quite the hitter that Gunnar already is, and certainly not in the next 1-2 years while he's still uber affordable in FGM.

Adding Skenes is balanced by getting both Harris and Jones in return, especially given how elite hitters tend to outscore elite pitchers in this league.

Is it an overpay on my part? Perhaps, but I don't think it's enough to necessarily veto the trade.

Thanks.

In slight response to the veto. CHC already has 8m more cap space than I do as ARZ. The cap thought is negligible

FGM is a H2H points league, so this is how I look at it.

The top SP last year was Tarik Skubal, and he scored 2,172 points, while Gunnar Henderson scored 4,221. Some folks might assume Jackson Holliday will score as many points as Henderson, but I am not one of those people.

Add to the fact that AZ traded Michael Harris and Jared Jones, and there is not way I can justify this trade.

Sorry, but this trade is a veto for me.

LOL, well @MauriceAJR  I guess we can't win with this deal idea. One veto says ARZ is giving too much, the other says CHC is giving too much...

I do have a question now. What will appease the TC? We have a 33% no on CHC winning to much, 33% veto on ARZ, and a good to go?

Even if we "balance" the trade it would sway one to a guaranteed no, and the "good to go" may see it as an overpay.

Since the 48 hour period has expired, the veto will stand.  Your welcome to repost the trade.
