Title: Yankees and Jays agree to terms
Post by: Daniel on January 23, 2012, 09:04:19 PM
SP Hughes, Phil, $3.5m (2014)   $3.5m   $3.5m   $3.5m
OF Tekotte, Blake, $0.5m (P-n/a)   $0.5m   $0.5m   $0.5m   $0.5m   $0.5m   $0.5m
CI Borchering, Bobby, $0.5m (P-n/a)   $0.5m   $0.5m   $0.5m   $0.5m   $0.5m   $0.5m
MI Valdespin, Jordany, $0.5m (P-n/a) $0.5m   $0.5m   $0.5m   $0.5m   $0.5m   $0.5m

for

C Martinez, Victor, $12.5m (2013)   $12.5m   $12.5m   TOR will pay 7.5m in 2012.
OF Spilborghs, Ryan, $1.5m (2012)   $1.5m

Jays accept to this trade because we cannot afford to keep VMart for one year at that price. This way we clear some cap room, get a useful player for this year and receive a haul of prospects that is good enough for one year of VMart and Spilborghs. Yankees to accept, thanks for the speedy negotiations Dan.

I vote no, the tilt is too far in favor of the Blue Jays.  Martinez is out this year and who knows who he will be going forward.  Spilborghs is a 31 year old AAAA player.  I implore others to vote no as well.

Trade needs to be confirmed.
 :iatp:

While vmart is hurt this year, Hughes was hurt most of last year and is only ok in this format.  Tekotte future is spilsborough's present.  Bochering and valdespin are nothing spectactular in this format due to plate discipline issues.

Acquiring a good hitter that will qualify as a catcher in 2013 on a discount is a smart move.  To me the price is fine.

:NYY: confirms the deal we feel it's even or we wouldn't do it we don't lose too much cap this year and we feel it's worth it for next year

Not a really good deal for the Yankees IMO.  But  :iatp:

I think the opposite. Great deal for the yanks. those specs are nothing in this scoring format. Pitchers have no value in this league so good get for :NYY:

Really good get by Yanks...Vmart is a star when playing and the Yanks have depth and cap to sit on him for a year. I understand why Daniel did the trade, but he really got very little value in return, in my eyes. Selling Vmart now, is when his value is at it's absolute lowest.

V mart will probably be out all year.See article where Prince Fielder signs with Tigers.
They mention about Vmart probably being out all year
