Title: Reds/Astros
Post by: TheLongHorn on July 01, 2024, 11:17:43 AM

:CIN: sends:

C Sean Murphy $31M (2028)

to :HOU: for:

C Jeferson Quero pna

OF Jace Bohrofen pna

SP Joe Whitman pna

SP Will Warren pna

SP Fernando Perez pna

Reds make this trade to continue to bolster our farm, love Murphy, but I?m always evaluating talent and these three arms we?re getting I am high on. We?ve got Torrens/Amaya to hold down the fort until Quero is ready. Houston to confirm, thanks @dbreer23!

If this is accepted please promote SP Will Warren to active roster

:HOU: accepts

It's not often that an owner consumes 25% of their payroll for the next 5 years in 2 swooping deals, but here we are...LFG!

Much as a value the prospects given up here (and in the previous deal), adding Murphy as a 2-punch to Trevino solidifies my roster for the next few years. The attrition on catchers is awful, but a risk that I am willing to take.

Thanks for the discussion, @TheLongHorn
