OF Rivera, Juan, $4.5m (2011)
OF Evans, Nick, $0.5m (P-2011)

for

OF Teahen, Mark, $2m (2011)
C Myers, Williams, $0.5m (P-n/a)
2-10 KC

I feel this trade sets up my OF for next year with Dejesus, Rivera and what I can get off of the money I gain from getting rid of Coco crisps $5m and Jose Guillen's monster contract. I give up a top prospect in Myers, but have Santana to start there soon and Austin Romine to hopefully one day take over the job in NY. Evans is just a throw in.

Cardinals agree.  This move is made to reduce an oversupply of OFs as well as add a top (C?) hitting prospect and early draft pick.

Wil Myers is a Royals catcher drafted out of high school last year.  Baseball America ranks him as the Royal's 3rd best prospect.

I actually like myers a lot, but with santana waiting in the wings and him being so young im willing to take a chance
