Title: Trade: Angels/Mets
Post by: Brent on January 20, 2024, 01:50:23 PM

The Angels and Mets agree on the following Blockbuster trade.  The Angels do this trade to add one of my favorite players and a face to lead my rotation.  I am giving up Wilken who I had planned to build around, but I'm going to pivot and build around Skenes.  Thanks for the negotiations.  Mets to confirm.

Angels trade:
OF Masataka Yoshida, $11M (2027)
C Mitch Garver, $1.1M (2024)
1B Joey Votto, $3M (2025)
3B Brock Wilken p-n/a
2024 1.12

For

Mets trade:
SP Paul Skenes p-n/a
OF Kemp Alderman p-n/a
2024 2.7

The Mets confirm this deal.

We gain Yoshida, who looks to be a solid addition to our starting player core. A solid back up catcher in Garver on a 1 year rental and Votto, who could have a good bounce back year now that he's injury free.
A prospect in Wilkin, who was quite high on our draft board last year. And an additional 1st round pick in 2024.

We hated to move Skenes, but sometimes these types of moves are necessary to get ahead.

Thanks to LA for the smooth negotiations.
