Title: Rockies, Cubs trada
Post by: bridgestone on April 05, 2010, 03:59:40 PM
guzman + maloney for lowell, reddick & 8m?

:CHC: to :COL:
RP Maloney, Matt, $0.5m (P-n/a)
RP Angel Guzman $2 (2012)

:COL: to :CHC:
CI Lowell, Mike, $12.5m (2010) + $8m cash in 2010
OF Reddick, Josh, $0.5m (P-n/a)
7-3 COL (from DET)

Lowell is useless to me, but for helping the cash-struck Rockies out, I get a decent-mid round pick and another outfield prospect.  I have no need for Guzman and Maloney long-term with Brackman and Robertson coming to Chicago.

My team is becoming even more liquid for 2011. :taco:

Wait, I just realized that I am throw in 8M. I thought Cubs was taking 8M of Lowell's deal. This is a case of bad communication on my part. Cubs lets discuss a bit more in private.

The Cubs wouldn't be able to take $8m of Lowell's deal.  All money has to cover a contract and go with it, not against it.

I meant Cub's assuming 8m of Lowell's contract

:iatp:  I ACCEPT... I get top picks in the late rounds thanks to deals of the past... my pitching prospect in Maloney is switched over for more offensive prospects.  I pay the price by taking in Lowell's crap deal for this year.  I'm not competing this year, so taking on Lowell for one year isn't a bad price for the farm enhancement.

Looks like a good return for taking on the Lowell contract.
