I wanted to do a small write-up. I think something this league could use more of, are write-ups, and this one was easy for me. Take a look at Rollins in SD and give me a grade on my moves.
Here is the original trade for Rollins that I made on July 31st, 2010.
http://Padres trade:
CI Craig, Allen, $0.5m (P-n/a)
4-22 SD (from ATL)
Cardinals trade:
MI Rollins, Jimmy, $8m (2010)
X-MI Rollins, Jimmy, Cash from HOU, $-4.5m in 2010
Pick 4-22 was made for Phillip Gosselin, MI, in Atlanta's farm system http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=gossel001phi . Craig's scoring was [391.6 in 2010 and 1422.4 in 2011]. Rollins looked like this [1157.76 in 2010 and 2283.84 in 2011].
Then here is my latest deal.
The Phillies have agreed to a deal with the Padres
Padres get:
CI Parker, Stephen, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI-OF Jones, Garrett, $0.5m (P-2012)
P Rosenberg, B.J., $0.5m (P-n/a)
for
MI Rollins, Jimmy, $5.5m (2012)
SD pays 3m
I swing Rollins for a couple of guys to hopefully produce soon, at least Parker really soon, and then Jones who is producing. He is 30 years old and is only two seasons away from getting 7 votes for ROY. He has hit 21 HRs in 2/3 seasons and gave 2026 points in 2010 and 1854 in 2011. Even if he stays at the 2011 clip and gives me 1850 points, he will be a good guy for the transition to my youth.
All in all, not that I got the better of anybody per say, but I think I put together quite the series of deals and really got great value out of Craig and therefore Rollins and therefore where I am now. Your thoughts? Please, I'm not trying to brag. I think it's interesting to analyze the history and it was easy for me to do on this occasion because I was involved.

Ah, the glory days of trading draft picks...id say as long as Jones doesn't get caught up in a full time platoon, that trade seems pretty good. Rollins might have fetched you a bit more, but if the offers weren't plentiful, I could see this trade being acceptable.

Wasn't much offered and that which was weren't attractive. Parker is a legitimate threat. Jones is a CI-OF too, which helps him play more innings too!
